LITTLE KIDS ROCK EXTENDS MUSIC PROGRAM TO HUNDREDS OF LOW-INCOME CHILDREN IN MEMPHIS WITH SUPPORT FROM TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA AND HOT TOPIC

National nonprofit brings innovative curriculum, donates 300 new Fender® guitars to Memphis public schools

Memphis, Tenn, August 25, 2009 Little Kids Rock (LKR), a national nonprofit music program that provides free instruments and instruction to underfunded public schools, today announced its expansion into 12 new schools throughout the Memphis area. On August 27-28 at the Teaching and Learning Academy in Memphis, LKR will instruct participating teachers in its innovative curriculum and donate 300 brand-new Fender guitars, along with software and materials. Teachers who complete the workshop will begin leading classes with nearly 900 low-income kids in and around Memphis shortly thereafter.

The following Memphis schools will benefit from the Little Kids Rock program and instrument donation: Colonial Middle School; Snowden School; Cypress Middle School; Southside Middle School; Lester School; Craigmont Middle School; South Park Elementary; Cordova Middle School; Ridgeway Middle School; Ridgeway High School; North Elementary and Oakhaven High School.

Funding from the Hot Topic Foundation and Trans-Siberian Orchestra has made LKR’s program in Memphis City Schools possible this year. “Stone City Attractions and Trans-Siberian Orchestra are honored to work with an organization like Little Kids Rock, which provides services for a much underserved segment of our community,” said Jack Orbin, president of Stone City Attractions, Inc.
